Wordless Wednesday: Celebrating

A friend celebrates his horse finishing first during a race at Arlington Park on Friday. This is one of those photos where I wish I'd had the focus set differently and the smaller lens on. Oh well. I live and learn.

  1. Big money? I think the nearest horse racing track is Wyoming Downs... driven past the area but never stopped by. It was usually on the way to a hunting or camping trip in my youth.

In an odd way, the focus on the picture makes a weird kind of sense... on a higher level.

Love this photo! Not all photos look good with the foreground out of focus but it totally works in this case :) Yay to your friend!

  3. I think it looks good, too. I think the horses on the track, crystal clear in the background, make the blurry celebration work very well,.

Did he actually win ANYTHING? I am guessing he is not celebrating :o)

  6. @Brady -- There was no big money won. We were mostly betting the minimum that day. But it's still fun to pick a winning (or placing or showing) horse. I've grown up with this racecourse nearby, and this was only my second trip there. Funny how you look at some of these places for so long, but never go in.

@fragileheart -- Thanks! I still wish it were in focus, though. :)

@Les Bedcker -- Thanks to you too. I think you're right, the in-focus horses do redeem this photo.

@Anonymous (aka The Husband) -- No, he is not just waving to me, he is actually celebrating. I know. I checked the entire sequence of photos. :)

@Drunken Dog -- Thanks for the compliment. I'll have to check out your blog.
