A brooding Thanksgiving sky

For the Thanksgiving holiday last week, we drove up to my aunt's house in Wisconsin. On the way there, just outside of town, we saw this abandoned and rotting building and grain silo by the side of the road. I made my husband stop the car so that I could jump out and grab a few very quick shots. I thought the sky was a little moody and brooding in this shot, especially compared to the blue skies we'd left behind in Illinois an hour before that.

  5. I hate seeing abandoned building but they are so full of character that they are hard to resist. Awesome sky view.

  6. Sometimes we have to tell them to just pull on over so that we can grab that shot. So glad your husband did. Great photo, love those old barns and this one makes a great focul point with your broody sky in the background. Thanks for sharing.

  7. The dreary sky fit into your abandoned building perfectly. I love photographing rickety or abandoned buildings although if I asked my husband to stop, he would've thought I was nuts.

Thanks for your recent comment on my blog. I don't think Treasure Island was opened to the public in 2001. Lots of tourists go there now to photograph the San Francisco skyline like in my photo.
