The Alamo in 1836

Last year I went on my first ever business trip. We had three days in San Antonio, and I was determined not to spend the entire time working or hanging around our hotel. One night we were able to get down to the Riverwalk and see the Alamo.

Since it was closed for the night, we weren't able to get in, but we did enjoy walking around the exterior. This is one of my favorite photos I took that night. The grounds are lit so prettily, and the modern hotel in the background really creates a nice juxtaposition of old and new.

  1. I loved San Antonio. I was there for about 6 days while my wife was at a conference, so it was a vacation for me. Such a beautiful city and rich with history and the Riverwalk is awesome. Cool photo by the way! Where did you stay? We stayed at the Emily Morgan hotel (triangular building), across the street from the Alamo.

    Take care,
    Jim

  2. I can't remember where exactly we stayed but it was a good half-hour or so drive from the Riverwalk. So, unfortunately, we only had those few hours to look around. I'd love to go back sometime.
